Andreas Hartø, the gifted Danish golfer who last year became the fastest player in history to capture two Challenge Tour titles, has joined the Wilson Golf Tour team after a sixth-place finish at the Qualifying School set up his first season on the European Tour.
The 22-year-old only became a professional golfer after winning the ECCO Tour Championship held in Winsen, Germany in August last year and followed that win up with a stunning victory at the Roma Golf Open in what was only his fourth outing on the Challenge Tour.
The former Welsh Open Amateur Stroke Play Champion will now play with Wilson Staff’s much sought-after FG Tour irons during his rookie season, as well as carry the distinctive red and white Pro Tour bag and feature the Wilson Staff logo on the front of his headwear.
“Andreas clearly is a special golfer who was courted by several leading brands, so we’re very happy that he’s chosen Wilson to accompany him during his first year on the European Tour,” said Doug Wright, Business Director for Europe at Wilson Golf. “The record he set on the Challenge Tour was truly remarkable and we hope he goes on to make more headlines on the European Tour with the Wilson Staff FG Tour irons.”
Hartø joins a growing list of Tour players who have chosen Wilson Staff as their brand of choice for the 2011 season. As well as three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington, 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie, Englishman Anthony Wall, Sweden’s Fredrik Ohlsson and PGA Tour stars Ricky Barnes and Kevin Streelman, have all committed to the brand.
