Puma Golf has signed Challenge Tour player Ewen Ferguson to an apparel and footwear contract for the 2020 season.
Ferguson will wear pieces from the brand’s latest SS20 collection during the season, and will be making his debut in the new gear at this week’s South African Open in Johannesburg. Ferguson will play most of his golf on the Challenge Tour this year, with a full card for the 2020 season, although he is expected to make several appearances on the European Tour through invitations.
Ferguson will be wearing apparel from Puma’s SS20 collection, which includes a new collection of polos and layering pieces which feature the brand’s new CLOUDSPUN technology, which has led to the creation of the softest, most lightweight, breathable, stretchiest fabric the brand has ever used. Ferguson will also wear Puma’s latest spiked and spikeless footwear ranges throughout 2020.
A successful amateur, Ferguson became the first Scot to win the Boys Amateur Championship in almost a decade when he claimed the title at Royal Birkdale in 2013. In 2014, he became the first player to hold that crown as well as the Scottish Boys and Scottish Boys Stroke Play titles at the same time. He was also in the Great Britain & Ireland team at the 2015 Walker Cup at Royal Lytham.
Playing as an amateur on the Challenge Tour in 2016, he made the cut at both the Turkish Airlines Challenge and the Montecchia Open before turning professional and making his European Tour debut later that season in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, where he also made the cut.
Paul Spencer, Puma’s UKIB General Manager, said: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with Ewen, from his stellar amateur career, culminating in being a part of the victorious 2015 Walker Cup team, to the success he has seen in his short professional career. We’re excited to watch him continue his progression in 2020 on the Challenge Tour while showcasing our apparel and footwear. Ewen is the perfect fit for our brand, and we’re proud to have him as part of our team for 2020, and beyond.”
Ferguson, who is represented by Niall Horan’s Modest! Golf Management, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign with Puma Golf. Puma is one of the biggest sporting brands in the world, supporting some of the most recognised athletes across all sports, and I’m honoured to join the Puma Golf family. Having spoken with the team in detail, I’m really excited with the plans they have in golf in 2020 and beyond and look forward to being a part of that.”
