The dust is settling on another historic and memorable year of action at the Farmfoods’ British Par 3 Championship at Nailcote Hall, with the Pro-Am competition coming to its conclusion.
It was three-time European Tour Tournament winner Phillip Price who came out on top as a pro and secured the legendary title and the €50,000 prize money, after a dramatic 2-hole play-off with Tom Reid. They both ended with a score of 101 points and 7 under par, before the play-off.
Buzzing off the back of his spectacular win, Price said: “I’ve got a beautiful trophy, a wheelbarrow full of cash and a happy family”.
Commenting on the play-off, Price continued “I was fortunate to win the play off really, Tom gave it to me a bit”. When asked about the conditions, after playing in tremendous heat, Price concluded “It was super difficult; it became so dry”.
As a team, Reid and Mahony came out on top with a score of 95 points and 13 under par.
Fans were also delighted to see that the first two days of the championship included 3 spectacular holes in one. On the first day, Steve Bennet secured his hole in one on the 12th hole, with John Corrie landing his on the 16th hole. On the second day, Allan Evans hit his on the 15th hole.
This year’s trophy was a replica of the most successful British player of his generation, Tony Jacklin CBE, in honour of him hosting the tournament this year.
