Original Penguin, a division of Perry Ellis International, has announced the signing of 25-year-old tour professional Esther Henseleit as a brand ambassador for the apparel brand.
Originally from Hamburg, Germany, and now residing in Arizona, Henseleit established herself as one of Europe’s brightest young talents in a sensational 2019 rookie year on the Ladies European Tour. During the 2019 season, she recorded eight top-10 finishes, won her first tournament, earned Rookie of the Year honours and won the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit.
She became the third player in Ladies European Tour history to win both titles in one season. Esther’s fine play continued in the 2023 season where she finished 37th on the LPGA Tour Order of Merit including a second place finish at the ISPS Handa World Invitational and a third place result at the Buick LPGA Shanghai.
Henseleit’s start to the 2024 LPGA Tour season has been emphatic with a number of strong performances including a 7th place finish at the first major of the year, The Chevron Championship. She is currently ranked 70th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf rankings and has full LPGA Tour status for 2024. Having been confirmed among the field list for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she also seeks to secure a place on Europe’s Solheim Cup squad in September.
“We are honoured to welcome Esther to the Original Penguin family,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, CEO and President of Perry Ellis International. “Her passion for golf and her keen eye for style perfectly aligns with our brand values. We continue to celebrate individuals who embody the Original Penguin spirit, and we are confident Esther will resonate with our global audience.”
“I am thrilled to become part of the Original Penguin family,” said Henseleit. “I love the product design and personality of the brand. It is truly unique, extremely stylish and performs great-enabling me to play my best in all types of conditions. I am excited to showcase the Penguin in 2024 and beyond.”
Henseleit joins a growing roster of Original Penguin golf ambassadors including former Open Champion Cameron Smith, PGA TOUR winners Jake Knapp and Nico Echavarría, and Korn Ferry Tour winner Mason Andersen.
“We continue to grow the Original Penguin brand on the global stage with more of the best players in the world wearing the Penguin icon,” added Feldenkreis. “Esther’s dynamic energy and determination add a distinctive sense of style to the Original Penguin family.”
