Having regularly welcomed the stars of the European Tour to the famous Oceanico Victoria Course for the Portugal Masters, this July sees the turn of the future stars of world golf as Oceanico prepares to host the inaugural Oce®nico World Kids Golf Championship.
Set to become a leading event on the ever expanding world junior golf stage, The Oceanico World Kids Golf Championship will welcome young golfers from across the globe to test their skills over three of Oce®nico’s fantastic championships courses in the Algarve; Oce®nico Faldo, Oce®nico O’Connor and Oce®nico Pinhal between 26-30 July 2009.
The Oce®nico World Kids Golf Championship confirms Oceanico’s dedication to supporting golf across all levels of the game, from the world’s elite Touring Professionals in the Portugal Masters, to grass roots level with the Oce®nico World Kids Golf Championship.
The championship is sanctioned by the Portuguese Golf Federation and is open to boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 16, with competition categories being determined by both age and gender.
Kids aged 10 years and over will compete over 18 holes each day, while children under 10 years will play 9 holes on each of the three competition days. Creating the feel of a professional ‘Tour’ event the Oce®nico World Kids Golf Championship will count each player’s gross score for their Championship total, and prizes will be awarded for the first five competitors in each age category, for both boys and girls.
As the profile of the Oce®nico World Kids Golf Championship grows, further venues from Oce®nico’s ‘Magnificent Seven’ located across the Algarve region, can be utilized to provide further championships venues. Up to 1,000 junior competitors could be catered for across Oce®nico’s extensive portfolio in the Algarve, including the Oce®nico Victoria, which will once again host the Portugal Masters in October.
