Nordea, the international banking and financial services group, has agreed a three year deal to become title sponsors of the Scandinavian Masters.
The Nordea Scandinavian Masters will be played at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club, just outside Stockholm, for the first time from 22-25 July 2010. Nordea’s agreement is worth more than €2million per year, making it the largest contract in Swedish golf.
Fredrik Nilsmark, president of the Scandinavian Masters AB, which operates the Nordea Scandinavian Masters, said: “This gives us the start we need to achieve our ultimate vision of becoming the second largest tournament in Europe after The Open Championship. It is extremely satisfying that the tournament is so attractive.”
Christian Clausen, CEO of Nordea, said: “We are pleased to contribute to this tournament which will increase international attention on Sweden and Scandinavia. With a good course, and an ambitious owner, the Nordea Scandinavian Masters has the opportunity to become even more attractive.
“As the leading Nordic bank, we are also pleased to help forge links between people and companies in different countries and cities in the north.”
The Nordea Scandinavian Masters will be played over the Stadium Course at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club, opened in 2007, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and Bruce Charlton.
Bro Hof Slott Golf Club, which has been voted Sweden’s top golf course for the past three years, will host the event until 2017 and is also the proposed venue for Sweden’s 2018 Ryder Cup bid.
