A new awards event will recognise exceptional work in the UK’s golf clubs. The 2014 GOLFAs, sponsored by Teeofftimes.co.uk, have been launched by the publishers of National Club Golfer and Lady Golfer magazines in association with awards specialists Createvents.
The awards will salute those who run the business of golf at club level; club initiatives that drive the sport forward; club members who contribute so much to their clubs and regions; venues that provide a great guest experience and therefore showcase golf as a leisure activity in the best possible way.
“We believe there are lots of unsung heroes in our golf clubs at grass-roots level across the country,” said Tom Irwin, publisher of Sports Publications, whose stable includes National Club Golfer and Lady Golfer.
“This will be a professional event in every respect with a robust and independent judging process and that’s why we have partnered with Createvents, who are specialists in this field.”
The awards recognise the exceptional skills which create success. In these times of economic difficulties it is essential to add value to business – value which does not cost but will put your golf club one step ahead of your competitors.
Although winning an award is each entrant’s goal, even if the end result disappoints it is still worthwhile because it focuses the mind and develops opportunities for both the individual and business.
There will be posters in clubs, entry forms from club managers and secretaries and online at www.thegolfas.co.uk
Entries are open now and close at the end of August. Results will be announced in the November issue of NCG that comes out in early October.
