Murrayshall Country Estate in Perthshire has been selected as one of the venues to host the first year of the Future Faldo Series in April this year.
Part of the global Faldo Series for boys and girls, the inaugural Future Series has been set up to entice younger players into the game, aged 7-12 years old. The top two players on April 10 will qualify for the Regional Finals at eight selected venues across the UK. From there, they will be in with a chance to be at the Faldo Future Final at The Belfry in August where 144 players will participate in the age and gender categories.
Golf Events Manager Emma Lester said: “Being chosen as one of the Scottish venues is a great honour and was cemented in after hosting the Faldo Elite Tour last year. We have worked hard to entice youngsters to the game with our Junior Coaching Camps and affordable golf membership promotions with free membership once they’ve played 100 rounds. We want to attract as many youngsters to apply for this as it’s an incredible opportunity within the Faldo Series.”
The estate will also play host to the U16s Scottish Golf Union Boys Tournament from July 9-11 in a drive to see more young players in Scotland progress in the game.
Recent improvements to the courses on the estate are part of a £30 million investment to upgrade and diversify the facilities. New bunkers and white sand reflect a US-style across both the 18-hole and 9-hole courses. Development plans include the opening of a new driving range, enlarged pro shop and golf academy, as well as a spa and leisure club.
