BlackStar Golf announces the signing of Jimmy Mullen, with the 21-year-old making an impressive impact on his professional debut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, 1-4 October. Jimmy shared the joint lead on 11 under par at the halfway stage before eventually finishing tied 30th at St. Andrews and collecting his first professional prize cheque of €36,542.

The Devon golfer recently won all four of his matches at the Walker Cup at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club and in doing so he became only the fourth player from Great Britain and Ireland to achieve the feat and the first since Luke Donald and Paul Casey in 1999.

Jeremy Robinson of BlackStar Golf said: “We are delighted that Jimmy has chosen to join us. He has had a very successful amateur career culminating in playing such a significant role in Nigel Edwards’ winning Walker Cup team. I have followed his game closely over the last few years and hope we can help him achieve his goals as a professional”.

Jimmy said: “Having achieved my amateur goal of playing in the Walker Cup I feel now is the time to turn professional. Hopefully my experience playing amateur golf internationally will help me and I am very much looking forward to working with BlackStar.”

Jimmy successfully came through the first stage of the European Tour Qualifying School and will join several of his Walker Cup team-mates at the Volopa Irish Challenge in Carlow on Thursday (October 8-11).
