Lynx Golf played a key fundraising role in Liverpool FC’s inaugural Player Awards Dinner this week.
The family-owned UK golf brand donated the main prize in a charity auction staged to support the Liverpool FC Foundation at the gala event, which recognised first team, ladies and academy players, staff, as well as fans.
The Foundation is the charitable-arm of the club, providing a wide range of sport-inspired programmes throughout the local community and beyond that helps to inspire positive change and build better futures for people of all ages.
Said Lynx Golf’s Steve Elford, a lifelong Liverpool fan: “At our core, we want to inspire, encourage and support young people – not just to take up and enjoy golf – but to improve their own lives in whatever way they can.
“The LFC Foundation’s beliefs are very much in line with our own values at Lynx and being able to support their work at such an incredible event, especially as a Liverpool fan during this amazing season, was very special.”
To assist the fundraising, Lynx donated an exclusive golf package including:
- Three nights away at a top golf resort in Europe, flying with Lynx on a private jet and playing two rounds of golf;
- A Lynx Tigress Gold Limited Edition Ladies’ set complete with clubs and matching bag;
- A Lynx Black Cat Men’s Combo set with matching bag;
- Six entry tickets to the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale in July, at which Lynx is the Official Golf Club Sponsor;
- One place in the Pro-Am Tournament that precedes the RWBO.
The Liverpool FC Players’ Awards Dinner took place at the ACC Conference Centre in Liverpool and was attended by manager Brendan Rodgers, members of the first-team squad and Liverpool Ladies and Academy players.
Fans had been invited to vote for a number of categories including Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Year.
The club also asked for fans to submit nominations for the Fan of the Year award, highlighting those individuals that go above and beyond to support their beloved Liverpool, making a difference in their communities and/or showing great courage to overcome adversity.
Mark Haig, Head of Operations, at Liverpool FC Foundation, said: “On behalf of the Foundation I would like to thank Lynx Golf for their generous donation.
“All of the funds raised from the auction will be put back into local communities through our programmes, helping to create opportunities that make a real difference to peoples’ lives.”
Lynx Golf continues to establish itself as the most forward-thinking and exciting equipment brand in Europe and is dedicated to supporting ‘green grass’ Pro shop business, with more than 400 accounts in the UK.
