The 35th renewal of the Telegraph Junior Golf Championship, the opening qualifiers for which get under way today [March 27], is being sponsored by European Tour star Justin Rose, who was himself the winner of the title in 1997.
Open to anyone aged under 18, the Telegraph Junior Golf Championship has helped produce many top tour professionals since its launch, including Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick on the European Tour, as well as leading lights of the Ladies European Tour such as Melissa Reid and Jodi Ewart Shadoff.
Regarded as the unofficial ‘major’ of junior golf, the 54-hole strokeplay tournament will this year return to Quinta Do Lago in Portugal and will be televised by Sky Sports.
Speaking about his official tie-in with the tournament, Rose said: ‘I am delighted to announce my sponsorship of the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship, a tournament close to my heart since I won the title back in 1997.
