INFINITUM will play host to the Denmark-based ECCO Tour for the first time in the competition’s 22-year history after agreeing a two-year partnership which will see three successive tournaments played at the Spanish venue.
For the 2025 season, the tour will grace INFINITUM’s fairways for the ECCO Tour Spring Series, comprising three tournaments across a fortnight from February 21 to March 5 with a total prize pot of €150,000.
The events – part of the Nordic Golf League, which also features the national professional golf tours of Sweden and Finland – will return to INFINITUM in 2026.
A full field of 156 professionals, all arriving with fresh hopes of earning their pathway to the Challenge Tour, will have full access to the resort’s world-class practice facilities – including the new Callaway Fitting Studio – and will stay at the nearby Hotel Blaumar, a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean Sea.
The ECCO Tour agreement comes at an exciting time for INFINITUM, with the resort currently investing heavily in transformative enhancements across its entire offering. An €800,000 renovation into the Greg Norman-designed Lakes course was announced at the start of the year, while the second phase of the ambitious real estate project is well underway following the huge success of its first phase.
INFINITUM is no stranger to hosting prestigious events, staging the DP World Tour’s ISPS Handa Championship in Spain in 2022 while the DP World Tour’s Qualifying School Final Stage will return to the resort in November for the sixth time.
Joaquín Mora Bertrán, deputy general manager of golf, the beach club and F&B at INFINITUM, said: “It will be our pleasure to welcome the ECCO Tour to INFINITUM for the first time next February. This partnership is another fantastic opportunity to witness some of Europe’s best up-and-coming players on the journey to the pinnacle of the game, as we have seen with a number of DP World Tour stars who came to prominence on the ECCO Tour.
“Over the years of working with DP World Tour, we have learned exactly what it takes to host an elite professional event, and we look forward to so many new players experiencing our resort for the first time.”
Flemming Astrup, owner and managing director of the ECCO Tour, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our 15-year tradition of starting the season in Spain, and we are especially excited to work with a superb new venue at INFINITUM.
“Our Spring Series is a great asset to the tour and especially to our players, and it is important we have a Championship venue such as this to test every aspect of our players’ games. Most of our players also have the DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage at INFINITUM as one of their end-of-season goals, which is another reason why this collaboration makes a lot of sense for the ECCO Tour.”
Since 2010, the ECCO Tour has launched each season with a leg in Spain, making it the most visited non-Scandinavian country in its history. Previous Spanish host venues include La Manga Club and Camiral Golf & Wellness.
