Golf Pride enjoys strong grip on Wentworth field

Golf Pride, golf’s leading grip brand, has announced that 97% of the DP World Tour professionals that teed it up at last week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth did so with Golf Pride grips in their bags.

In total, 134 out of the 138 players in the field trusted Golf Pride grips in their pursuit of a Rolex Series title. Each and every one of those players made the decision to play Golf Pride, as the company doesn’t pay a single player on any global golf tour – a testament to the quality and consistency of the products on offer.

Each of the players that finished inside the top ten on the leaderboard on Sunday, including the eventual champion, had Golf Pride grips in their bags.

Eric Gibson, Global Commercial Director of Golf Pride, said: “We’re delighted that almost the entire field at Wentworth chose to trust Golf Pride grips as they competed in one of the most significant events on the DP World Tour calendar.

“Knowing that so many tour professionals are choosing to use Golf Pride week-in-week-out is fantastic validation for the products that our research and development team are producing. The grips that you saw on some of the world’s best players’ clubs last week at Wentworth are exactly the same as those that consumers can buy in their local golf stores, so we’re really putting tour-proven technology and performance into the hands of golfers around the world.”

In addition to the overall usage figure, Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet grip was the most in-play full swing model across all club categories (driver, fairway woods, hybrids, utility irons, irons, wedges). Furthermore, MCC (in various iterations) was the second most popular full swing grip type in all main categories.

This information was gathered as part of the Sporting Insights equipment survey which took place during the week of the BMW PGA Championship, prior to the first round.
