Golf GameBook ambassador Mikko Ilonen secured the biggest win of his career when he triumphed in the Volvo World Match Play Championship on 19th October.
The ‘Flying Finn’, who won the Irish Open in June, recorded 35 birdies in six rounds on route to his fifth European Tour title, at London Golf Club.
The 34-year-old, who wears the Golf GameBook logo on his hat, has been an active supporter of the free-to-download smartphone app, which was selected to manage live scoring for the pre-Championship Pro-Am.
Ilonen was among the professionals and amateurs who posted fun pictures and good-humoured comments during the round, shared between competitors and contacts across social media platforms.
Mikko Rantanen, Co-Founder and CEO of GameBook Inc., said: “It was great to see so many of the professionals and amateurs enjoying their Pro-Am round and sharing their experience live with friends around the world on the game feed.
“Golf GameBook is proven technology not only for live scoring but for amplifying every golf experience. From Pro-Ams to club competitions to social games between friends, our free to use smartphone app offers competition formats of all types, including medal, stableford, team and individual match play.”
Golf GameBook was developed in Finland where for the first time this summer it replaced scorecards in a professional Finnish Tour event.
The app has been downloaded more than 850,000 times globally.
“Mikko Ilonen has been a great supporter of Golf GameBook and we were all so pleased to see him win at the Volvo World Match Play Championship,” continued Mikko Rantanen. “We hope Mikko’s victory will lead to even more golfers discovering the enhanced experience of using Golf GameBook for their social and competitive rounds.”
Golf GameBook is available for free on all major smartphone platforms. Golfers can download it from the App Store, Google Play and Windows Phone Store.
