The Golf Book Award was first introduced in 2012, will once again line-up alongside the well-established categories of football, rugby, cricket, children’s sports, illustrated, international sports and the ever-popular best autobiography.
In addition to ‘Golf Wars’ by Iain Carter, which follows the establishment of LIV Golf and the ensuing battle for the future of professional golf, and Andrew Johnston’s ‘Golf is Hard’, which shares some amusing and painfully honest stories of life behind the scenes as a tour pro, the other nominations are ‘The Tiger Slam’ by Kevin Cook, ‘Seve Ballesteros’s Touch of Class’ by Kenny Reid, ‘LIV and Let Die’ by Alan Shipnuck and ‘Open Links’ by Dominic Holland.

Over the last few years, the Sports Book Awards has teamed up with title sponsor Charles Tyrwhitt, The Sunday Times, National Literacy Trust and Waterstones in order to recognise the value of books within sport. With the return of the Golf Book category, the organisers hope that it will once again raise the importance of books in golf.
The panel chosen to judge the Golf Book Award is a notable list of experts in the golfing arena including veteran golf writer Matt Cooper, golf influencer David Jones (better known as UK Golf Guy), Emma Ballard, the editor of Women & Golf magazine, and Scott Macpherson, renowned golf course architect and author of several leading golf publications such as ‘The Evolution of the Old Course’.
Golf’s return to the fold presents a company involved, or looking to get involved, in golf with an ideal opportunity to gain some strong brand awareness by sponsoring the category. The sponsorship package offers a variety of activation opportunities, extensive social media reach, alignment with a range of established brands ,as well as attendance at the Awards Ceremony hosted by Mark Pougatch on May 1 at the Kia Oval in London, which provides an excellent networking opportunity with number of elite sportspeople and a range of high-profile companies.

Sponsors, supporters and partners already confirmed for the 23rd Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards include The Sunday Times, Waterstones, Sky Sports, Pinsent Masons, National Literacy Trust, and Rugby Writers Association.
Omar Khan, co-owner of the Sports Book Awards, said: “We are delighted to confirm the return of the golf category next year. Given the plethora of top quality golf books that have recently landed within the sport, it was a natural response to reintroduce the category for the 23rd staging of the Sports Book Awards. The line-up of golf books this year is extremely strong, as well as varied, so it will be fascinating to see which book our esteemed group of panellists choose as the Golf Book of the Year.”
“At the same time, it also provides a brand within the game to support the category and gain some excellent traction within the industry and sport in general as well as becoming part of the prestigious Sports Book Awards family.”
