Gleneagles launches junior golf scholarship

8.30am 2nd August 2001 - Sponsorship & Events

Management at The Gleneagle Hotel has announced a new and exciting scholarship programme for junior golfers. Four boys and four girls from the Perth and Kinross County Golf Unions will be offered one year’s unlimited access to the resort’s golf facilities. In addition they will each receive six hours coaching from the Gleneagles golf professionals at the resort’s golf academy.

The scholarship initiative is designed to support the activities of the Scottish Junior Golf Programme and will target talented young golfers who are not yet benefiting from the coaching programmes on offer at national level. It will give them the opportunity to maximise their potential while they maintain membership of their home club.

“The scholarships are a natural extension to the existing work that Gleneagles does to develop the game of golf at a junior level,” said Peter Lederer, managing director of The Gleneagles Hotel. “Gleneagles has outstanding relationships with the national and local bodies who give tremendous support throughout Scotland to golfers of all abilities.”
