Gary Player Design will sponsor KPMG’s fourth annual Golf Business Forum taking place in Budapest, Hungary, 16-18 May. The event will bring together investors and developers from across the globe targeting ‘Golf Development in the Emerging Markets’ (www.golfbusinessforum.com).
“Our support of the Golf Business forum is based on the quality of attendees of past conferences and the measurable success we have achieved through our attendance,” said Scott Ferrell, president of Gary Player Design. “We look forward to another informative event and building additional business relationships throughout Europe, as well as in other emerging markets.”
According to recent KPMG research, there are now almost 7,000 golf courses and 4.2 million golfers in the Europe, Middle East and African (EMA) regions. And with approximately 1,000 new courses being established worldwide each year – a significant proportion of which are driven by real estate development in emerging markets – many EMA countries are now the subject of significant international investment.
The two-day event will include insightful presentations from keynote speakers and interactive panel sessions on topics including how to build a winning development team, best practices from top international venues and how to finance new projects, plus special country focus briefings on emerging markets including Croatia and Hungary. There will also be numerous networking opportunities including a gala dinner and golf tournament.
Gary Player Design was established in the early 1980s and has branded over 250 layouts with the mark of a champion. Over its existence, the firm has worked on five continents and in over thirty countries, and prides itself on taking Gary Player and his design experience to emerging markets to help develop the game of golf globally.
The company offers three tiers of golf course design brands, Black Knight Design™, Player Design™ and Gary Player Signature Design™ – of which Mr. Player is personally involved in each Signature project.
The cornerstone of Gary Player’s design approach is to create playable and memorable golf courses within the constraints of a given site, while being ultra-sensitive to the surrounding environment. The result is a portfolio of award-winning and environmentally-recognized courses around the world, including the Top 3 Courses in South Africa and a multitude of Asian awards – most notably the Best Golf Course in both Hong Kong and Indonesia.
Multiple rankings have also been received in the US by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, and several courses in the US have been certified by the Audubon International as well for environmental stewardship. www.garyplayerdesign.com
