Aberdeen Asset Management, a leading independently owned UK based investment management business based in London and Aberdeen, is sponsoring twelve youngsters from northern Scotland for a once in a lifetime golf coaching trip to the US.
The young protà©gà©s will fly to Houston, Texas, on October 15 for ten days of professional coaching and the chance to win a prestigious US golfing scholarship. The teenagers, hailing from Stornoway, Banchory, Newmachar, Dornoch, Grantown on Spey, Fraserburgh, Nairn and Aberdeen are the latest group lucky enough to be chosen for the programme.
This is the second time Aberdeen Asset Management has provided support to the programme and as part of the sponsorship deal, AAM is providing clothing for the young hopefuls who come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Since 1993, sixty youngsters have taken part in the programme, 15 of whom have achieved scholarships.
“The idea is that these potential stars of the future are travelling to the US not only to try and succeed individually but also to represent the north of Scotland,” said Hugh Little, investment director at Aberdeen Asset Management. “The kit we have provided will not only make the lads look very smart, but hopefully it’ll make it easier for them to create a team spirit. Team spirit is very much part of the Aberdeen Asset Management culture.”
The total assets managed by Aberdeen, including the Murray Johnstone Group are approximately £32.9 billion (as at 30 June 2001). AAM is quoted on both the London and Singapore stock exchanges.
