Free group coaching for junior golfers

Grant aid of £20,000 is still available for the junior club coaching programme

The English Golf Union in association with Marsh Sports Group together with Royal and SunAlliance launched Year 3 of the Junior Club Coaching Programme on 1st April 2001. To date golf clubs have received a total of £40,000 in grant aid through this initiative.

The sponsorship of the programme through Marsh Sports Group and Royal and SunAlliance is giving a welcome boost to the England Junior Golf Partnership’s plans for junior golf in England. The initiative is being delivered by the English Golf Union to encourage golf clubs to coach and develop their junior membership and help deliver a structured Junior Club Coaching policy in England.

Any affiliated golf club can apply for the grant and the EGU is encouraging golf clubs to utilise the £20,000 in funding which is still available, bearing in mind the enthusiasm which has been created by The Open and due to the juniors starting the summer holidays.

The initiative offers golf clubs a grant of £100 toward junior coaching with golf clubs applying also investing £100 creating a fund of £200.00. This will give boys and girls 10 free one-hour lessons delivered by PGA professionals or assistant professionals who have completed year 1 of the PGA training course.
