Tomorrow [June 16] sees the highly anticipated Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship return to Trevose Golf & Country Club in Cornwall for what promises to deliver four days of high quality golfing action.
With the weather set fair, golf fans will witness some of the greatest names in golf competing for the title of champion, as well as the €50,000 first prize..
This year will see 1991 Masters winner Ian Woosnam return as the event host, joined by a star-studded line-up of legends including 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie and winner of the 2019 edition of this event, Jean-Francois Remesy. Lawrie lost out in a play-off to Richard Green in last week’s Jersey Open and will be hoping to go one better back on his favoured links layout this week.
Additionally, there will be players participating in their first year in the Legends Tour having tuned 50, including Jeev Milka Singh, Adilson De Silva and Niclas Fasth.
After the triumphant success of last year’s event, Woosnam is excited to return to Trevose for four days of fun, but intense competition.
“It’s great to yet again be hosing this tournament, and I can’t wait to see what this year’s event will bring. If the past couple of years are anything to go by, it’ll certainly be an action-packed few days, and I’m itching to get back on the course alongside my fellow professionals.”
Since its launch in 2019, the Trevose tournament has gained a reputation as one of the very best events on the Legends Tour, particularly due to its idyllic location. Surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Atlantic Ocean, the Championship is the ultimate test of golf while being the perfect event for spectators
Once again, Farmfoods will be returning as the Championship’s headline sponsor and leading brand agency, Champions (UK) plc, is back as event organiser.
Champions’ CEO John Hayes said: “I’m thrilled to see the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship return in 2022. Organising such an event is an incredibly rewarding job for the team, and we all can’t wait to see everything dome together for what will be an unforgettable tournament.”
“As always, I’d like to thank Farmfoods owner Eric Herd, Trevose Golf & Country Club’s owners Nick and Billy Gammon for their continued support, and I cannot wait to see the professionals back out on the course.”
