The English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) is delighted to announce a new partnership with Tourism Ireland which will bring sponsorship for three national championships.
The partnership has been forged at the start of an exciting season for women’s golf when the 2011 Solheim Cup will be played at Killeen Castle in County Meath from September 23-25.
Tourism Ireland sees the biannual contest, between the top women professionals of Europe and the USA, as the ideal opportunity to promote their island as a golfing destination.
Chrissie Owens, EWGA marketing and sponsorship consultant, commented: “We are thrilled that Tourism Ireland will support our championships. Ireland is a wonderful golfing destination and we believe our members will be delighted to find out about all it has to offer.”
Tourism Ireland will sponsor the premier championship for English-only golfers and two open championships which attract an international amateur field. They are:
- The English closed amateur championship at West Sussex Golf Club, Sussex, from 10-14 May.
- The 2011 English open mid-amateur championship at Collingtree Park Golf Club, Northamptonshire, from 30 June–3 July.
- The 2011 English open strokeplay championship for the Molly Gourlay Trophy at Alwoodley Golf Club, Yorkshire, from August 2-4.
