Commercial Bank has entered a partnership agreement with the Qatar Golf Association and the European Tour to continue to be the official title sponsor of the Qatar Masters tournament until 2022.
First held in 1998, and traditionally hosted at Doha Golf Club, the 23rd edition of the tournament will move to Education City Golf Club from March 5-8, 2020. Designed by José Maria Olazábal, Education City’s course, which opened earlier this year, enjoys views over the Doha skyline and the 2022 FIFA World Cup Stadium.
Hassan Nasser Al Naimi, President of QGA, said: “On behalf of the Qatar Golf Association, we are truly grateful for the support of the Qatar Olympic Committee and our long-term title sponsor, Commercial Bank of Qatar, which has helped us position the Qatar Masters as a significant world-class golf event. We are also very excited about working alongside Education City Golf Club for the 23rd edition and aim to continue its success.”
Michael Braidwood, the general manager at Education City Golf Club, said: “Education City Golf Club is excited to be hosting the 2020 Qatar Masters. We have recently opened our golf course and we have been delighted by the response of our clients on the quality and challenge that it represents. It will be interesting to see how the European Tour stars play the course, while the event is an ideal opportunity to grow the game of golf here in Qatar and we aim to use it as a platform to get as many new people engaged in the game.”
