As the great and the good of Hollywood prepared for the 85th Academy Awards in ‘Tinseltown,’ Swedish star Peter Hanson has already walked proudly down the red carpet dressed head-to-toe in the creations of his new apparel sponsor Oscar Jacobson.

Swedish golf star Peter Hanson is the new face of Oscar Jacobson, the 35-year-old Ryder Cup star capping-off a stellar season by signing a deal with the iconic Swedish golf and fashion brand.

The Florida-based Swede, whose two victories in the home stretch of last year’s Race to Dubai took his European Tour tally to six with victories either side of his second successful Ryder Cup a high-flying win at the KLM Dutch Open in September before engineering the biggest win of his career to date, the BMW Masters in Shanghai, ending his 14th year as a professional in a record fourth place on the Race to Dubai Rankings and comfortably within the top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

Having finished 9th on his 2013 season debut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Hanson, who earned the title ‘Mr Consistency’ having missed only one cut in 21 European Tour outings last year said of his new clothing deal, “It’s great to be able to join forces with OJ, because to look good is to feel good, on and off the golf course, while my somewhat understated demeanour fits perfectly with theirs, both of us with a quiet, dry sincere Swedish style, meaning we should work well – and have some fun – together for the duration of our partnership.”

Continued the newly-recruited Swedish style star, “While my fashion sense may be a little less extrovert than, for example, my Ryder Cup team-mate Ian Poulter, I have always been very interested in colour, texture and, most of all, optimum performance and I look forward to working with OJ in the months ahead and having some input to the product development side of things.”

As Oscar Jacobson’s global brand ambassador, Peter Hanson will be the face of OJ’s award-winning golf range, and, in addition to helping design the next generation of OJ apparel and wearing its garments on course, he will represent the company by playing with Pro-ams and providing golf clinics for customers and clients and will feature in OJ advertisements.

“Being a global golfer, one week I can be playing in the sub-tropical climates of south east Asia or the southern states of the USA, the next week in the more temperate and often windy conditions of northern Europe, which is why it is of vital importance that I can trust the performance of my attire, which is every bit as important as my golf clubs,” concludes the man with the enviable Ryder Cup record of played-two, won-two.

Commenting on the recruitment of Peter Hanson to represent the OJ brand worldwide, Roger Tjernberg said, “Everyone at OJ is delighted that Peter Hanson has agreed to join our small but exclusive stable of players,” adding, “Peter is the perfect fit for OJ, a genuinely global golfer, playing all over the world but with his heart very much still in Europe in general and Sweden in particular.

“He is competitive year-after-year and is held in the same high esteem as he holds – and respects – the values and traditions of the game of golf, and, win or lose, Peter Hanson is the quintessential sporting gentleman,” concluded the Oscar Jacobson CEO.

Having competed in the European Tour’s ‘Middle East Swing,’ Peter Hanson will be back to his adopted home in the USA for three high-profile events, the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, the WGC Cadillac Championship and the season’s first ‘Major,’ The Masters, where he will be calling on all his experience of a fine third-place finish last year in an attempt to become the first Scandinavian golfer to win one of golf’s four ‘Major,’ titles.

Hanson joins compatriot Fredrik Jacobson in the bespoke OJ stable, his fellow Swede already working on his eponymous FJ collection, the pair cutting a dash on and off the golf course with the OscarJacobsonGolfRange and the renowned OJ Man and OJ Sartorial leisure collections.

Meanwhile, Peter Hanson will hope to be playing in the final of the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona wearing his Oscars as, just a short flight away in Los Angeles, the other Oscars Ceremony will be taking place at the 85th Academy Awards as the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences reveals the winners from the year’s movies on 24th February.

Dating back to 1929, the Oscars is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the show business year, with Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and film director Ingmar Bergman amongst the most decorated recipients of the iconic golf statuette.
