DP World extends Ryder Cup partnership

9.12am 24th October 2024 - Sponsorship & Events

The PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe have announced that DP World, a leading provider of end-to-end supply chain solutions, has extended its relationship as a Worldwide Partner of the Ryder Cup through to the 2027 matches.

The announcement follows the recent events marking the ‘year-to-go’ milestone for the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York.

First named a Worldwide Partner in 2023, DP World began its official support of the Ryder Cup ahead of the matches in Rome last year. The 2023 partnership highlighted the value of DP World’s global network of advanced logistics capabilities, as the organisation helped coordinate and expedite the flow of facilities needed to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Among other initiatives, DP World delivered key electrical and solar power supplies, 90 mobility scooters to support attendees with limited mobility, and nearly two-dozen containers containing more than 10,000 goods used throughout the tournament.

With the Ryder Cup’s unique logistics needs, the partnership highlights the alignment of the tournament’s mission to promote international goodwill and sportsmanship and DP World’s excellence in delivery, global reach, prestige and community investment.

DP World will continue bringing its industry leading capabilities to assist in delivering golf’s most anticipated team event of 2025 at Bethpage Black and in 2027 at Adare Manor in Ireland.

DP World’s smart logistical solutions and interconnected network across nearly 80 countries and six continents help transport more than 10% of global trade. The company’s investments in technology and people creates a network ideally suited to delivering the infrastructure and equipment needed to bring the Ryder Cup to millions of fans across the world while enhancing the efficiency and success of golf as a global sport.

Danny van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer at DP World, said: “We are proud to extend our partnership with one of the most prestigious events in global sport. The Ryder Cup is a perfect match for DP World, as both share a commitment to excellence, innovation, and reaching a global audience.

“We are proud to have helped deliver a faster and more seamless Ryder Cup in 2023, and as discussions progress around how we might support logistical solutions for this iconic event moving forward, we remain excited about enhancing the fan experience and contributing to the continued success of the Ryder Cup in 2025 and beyond.”

The continued partnership with the Ryder Cup strengthens DP World’s already-deep ties to the golf community, as the brand has been the Title Partner of the DP World Tour since 2022 and the season ending DP World Tour Championship since 2009.

Jeff Price, Chief Commercial Officer at PGA of America, said: “As seen in 2023, DP World has been an invaluable partner in helping elevate the Ryder Cup experience on a global scale. Their expertise in logistics and supply chain solutions ensured the smooth operation of the event, enabling organizers to focus on delivering a world-class experience for those in attendance. We look forward to continuing this successful partnership as we approach Bethpage Black in 2025 and look ahead to 2027.”

Richard Atkinson, Ryder Cup Director at the European Tour group, added: “The Ryder Cup has grown to become one of the biggest sporting events in the world and with that comes a high degree of complexity in its staging.

“DP World’s smart supply chain expertise is highly valued by Ryder Cup Europe, the PGA of America and our partners and they helped us stage a record breaking and truly memorable match in Rome. We are always trying to elevate the experience and New York in 2025 provides the perfect stage to do just that. We look forward to working closely with DP World during the next two matches.”
