Christo Lamprecht joins Under Armour Tour Staff

10.59am 1st August 2024 - Sponsorship & Events

South Africa’s Christo Lamprecht, the former world no.1 amateur, has joined Under Armour’s team of tour staff.

The 23-year-old, 6ft 8-inch tall South African, who won The Amateur Championship in 2023, turned professional at the end of May after finishing second in the 2024 PGA Tour University rankings, earning him a fully exempt Korn Ferry Tour membership for the remainder of the 2024 season. He made his debut on the Korn Ferry Tour in June – after forfeiting his invitation to play in the US Open – and has so far made six starts with a best finish of tied 5th.

Lamprecht recently graduated from Georgia Tech in the US, where he earned All-American honours three times, and was 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Cristo Lamprecht will be wearing Under Armour shoes and apparel as he embarks on his first season as a tour professional

Following his signing by Under Armour to an apparel and footwear deal, Lamprecht said: “I love that Under Armour is such a personal brand, they focus on family and being a part of the Under Armour team. This really resonates with me because I’ve always been a very family orientated person. My father is really the reason I started playing golf, I’m the youngest in our family and his only son, so we’ve bonded over our love for the game. It’s nice to see a brand that puts an emphasis on the togetherness of sports.”

“Finding the balance between comfort and performance is something I’ve always struggled with when it comes to apparel, and it’s been refreshing to see that with Under Armour we can provide the niche line between comfortability and looking good.”

“I love UA’s training wear – all of it. I’ve really liked the Drive Pro shoes; they’ve got some great selections for course play. When I’m trying to dress it up a bit, I like to wear the Playoff Polos, they’re very breathable and classic. Even off the course, I live in the Meridian line, especially the workout shirts. I feel like I wear them daily.”

“With Under Armour’s partnership I hope to continue making strides in the golf and athletic world. I think Under Armour is also a brand that pushes to make every aspect of play better – when they touch something, it’s like it turns to gold. I’m getting to learn about the new technologies that go into my clothes and my gear and it’s exciting to see the possibilities this partnership will open.”
