Callaway staff player Yuka Saso claims second US Women’s Open title

10.48am 3rd June 2024 - Sponsorship & Events

Callaway staff player Yuka Saso dominated off the tee and on the greens, using the Paradym Ai Smoke Driver and Chrome Tour golf ball, to become the youngest ever player to win the US Women’s Open twice.

Her historic performance at Lancaster Country Club, Pennsylvania, comes just weeks after fellow Callaway staff player Xander Schauffele lifted the PGA Championship using the very same Callaway technology to win his first Major.

Saso, 22, first won the US Women’s Open title in 2021 and becomes only the 16th player in history to win the coveted championship twice. She used a full bag of Callaway and Odyssey equipment that also included an Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled 3T Putter, Ai Smoke MAX Fairway Wood and four Jaws Wedges.

Immediately after her three-shot victory, an emotional Yuka said: “I think I really wanted it. Not just to get a second win, but also to prove something to myself. I haven’t won for three years. I definitely had a few doubts that I might not win again. But I think those experiences helped a lot, and I think I was able to prove a little bit to myself.”

Saso’s major victory, which earned her the biggest winner’s cheque in the women’s game ($2.4m), now makes it four wins in four weeks for Callaway’s Chrome Tour ball following recent victories achieved by Rose Zhang, Xander Schauffele and Nacho Elvira.

Ben Sharpe, President and Managing Director of Callaway EMEA, commented: “Huge congratulations to Yuka on her phenomenal second US Open title. As #TeamCallaway players continue to dominate the winner’s circle on Tours around the world, we are proud to have played our part in helping Yuka re-write the golfing history books.”
