Callaway Golf Europe Ltd has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association (SALJGA) at the Home of Golf. The company has agreed to be the title sponsor of junior tournaments held at St Andrews, as well as the Challenge and the Mini Tours organised by SALJGA.
In addition to £5,000, which will be used to assist the comprehensive coaching programme for children aged between 5 and 18 living in St Andrews, Callaway Golf will also be providing golfing equipment and apparel during the course of the sponsorship deal. With almost 400 members, SALJGA calls on 60 volunteers and a number of local golf professionals to assist in the initiative.
“We are delighted to have Callaway on board as it will help us maintain and improve the high standards we have put in place,” said Richard Bunch, chairman of SALJGA. “The Association has gone from strength to strength since it began in 2001 and is continuing to give local youngsters a great opportunity to develop their game.”
Neil Howie, managing director of Callaway Golf Europe was equally enthusiastic about the initiative. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to further our involvement with grass roots golf,” he said. “Making the game accessible and attractive to youngsters is something we are keen to promote, and our association with SALJGA provides us with a chance to support and enhance the junior game at the Home of Golf.
