Bryson DeChambeau won his second US Open using JumboMax Grips on all 14 clubs. On his full swing clubs, DeChambeau uses Tour Series (XL) swing grips, while his putter grip is the JMX JumboFlat 17, which he uses to maximize the stability of his ArmLock putting style.

DeChambeau finished at 6-under par on the gruelling Pinehurst No.2 layout, earning a one-shot victory thanks to what has been called the greatest bunker shot in US Open history. From 55 yards, the played an explosion shot with a 55° wedge to 3 feet 11 inches and made the putt to secure the win.

DeChambeau rated the shot, which will be replayed for decades, a “100 out of 100” in difficulty and called it “the shot of my life.”

“No one works harder than Bryson or plays more fearlessly,” said JumboMax President John Mazzanoble. “His victory brought me to tears, and I know I’m not alone. His courage, self-belief, and perseverance are things we’ve admired since we started working with him when he was a junior. We’re so happy that the golf world is getting to know the Bryson we know.”

DeChambeau also won the 2020 US Open at Winged Foot using JumboMax Grips on all 14 clubs, but he was using JumboMax’s JMX UltraLite (XL) swing grips at the time that are slightly lighter than standard golf grips despite their larger sizes.

His change to the Tour Series came prior to the 2023 LIV Golf Greenbrier event, where DeChambeau shot historic back-to-back rounds of 61-58 in the final two rounds to win by six shots.

The switch from JumboMax’s JMX UltraLite swing grips to its counter-balanced Tour Series swing grips came after testing revealed the heavier weight of Tour Series grips helped him more easily create the draw shot shape he prefers.

“Tour Series grips are unique in that they weigh about twice as much as standard grips,” Mazzanoble said. “For golfers that tend to start the ball too far right or don’t see their draws come back to the target line, the heavier weight of the grip usually helps. The heavier weight also helps with performance from the rough.”

Tour Series swing grips are available in eight different sizes, from standard up to XL size. For more details, visit https://jumbomax.com/pages/grip-fitting.
