Celebrities will be out in force at the historic and iconic Brocket Hall, in April next year, for the inaugural Your Golf Travel.com St George’s Golf Day, in support of Help for Heroes.
Famed for its close links to two prime ministers, Lord Melbourne and Lord Palmerston – after whom the resort’s two golf courses are named – Brocket Hall is the archetypical English country house and the perfect venue for a fundraiser celebrating the country’s patron saint.
While celebrating all things English, in a characteristically English environment, the St George’s Golf Day will be raising funds for a charity which supports all UK military personnel who have been wounded, injured or become sick as a result of serving their country.
Teams of four, each featuring one celebrity, will compete for a spectacular host of prizes, before repairing to the Oak Room where they will enjoy a traditional, three-course English dinner and prize-giving ceremony. And the first two celebrities to commit to the event were Help for Heroes golf day ambassadors Georgie Bingham, from Talksport, and BBC sports presenter Dan Walker.
Entries are now open for teams of three – each of which will be hosted by a celebrity – at a cost of £750, or £1,000 to include off-site accommodation. That entry fee includes full English breakfast upon arrival; 18 holes of golf – on the Palmerston Course – with on-course hospitality; a drinks reception; and a three-course dinner.
David Griffin, the director of golf operations at Brocket Hall, said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome Andrew Harding, Your Golf Travel.com and such a tremendous and worthwhile event to Brocket Hall and hope that golfers from around the country will come out in force to support it.
“It is a great opportunity to enjoy all the best of Englishness while helping military personnel from all of the home countries – and nothing says ‘English country style’ more than Brocket Hall.”
