Golf Ireland and Bridgestone are to continue their commercial partnership, with the leading tyre company extending its sponsorship of the Bridgestone Tours, which have recently begun their 2025 schedule of events for men and women.
The partnership, which began in 2022, will also see Bridgestone introducing free tyre safety checks at selected events this season, reinforcing their commitment to community road safety.
Meanwhile, the amateur season got off to an exciting start in County Sligo with teenager Dylan Holmes crowned champion at the Connolly Motor Group West of Ireland Amateur Open Championship. Ahead of the tournament, Bridgestone was on-site at County Sligo to launch the 2025 series for both men and women. Returning professional Stuart Grehan, who reached the semi-finals at the West of Ireland was joined by Colm Conyngham, Bridgestone Marketing Manager, for the launch event, setting the scene for another competitive season of golf.
“We are very happy to continue our support for the Bridgestone Tours and Orders of Merit,” said Conyngham. “There is a lot of evidence recently that providing professionally structured and higher profile tours and awards for amateurs pays dividends in terms of their development and progress both locally and internationally.”
The Bridgestone Order of Merit continues to be a major stepping stone for amateur golfers aiming to represent Ireland or transition into the professional ranks, with reigning champion Brian Doran the most recent example having been selected for Ireland on the back of his success last year.
