Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke are both aiming for first time US Open success at Chambers Bay and, courtesy of sponsors Dunlop, they’ll also land a bumper £2 million bonus to go with it.
Westwood and Clarke, who endorse Dunlop clothing, will land a massive £2 million courtesy of a unique sponsorship deal that they enjoy with the leading golf brand. The agreement stipulates that the Ryder Cup stalwarts are entitled to scoop £2 million for every major championship victory. If either does secure victory at Chambers Bay, their sponsors will be the first to toast their success.

Westwood and Clarke emulate the heritage of Dunlop Golf. Clarke’s experience has been strongly recognised and he’s now Captain of the Ryder Cup team, making him the first Northern Irishman to lead Europe. He’s extremely proud of the achievement as the Ryder Cup has been a massive part of his life. Clarke has been in 7 Ryder Cups, being vice-captain twice. His bigger victory however was back in 2011, where he won the Open Championship!
Lee Westwood best finish in an Open Championship was when he came second in 2010, to Louis Oosthuizen, who beat him by seven strokes. The Dunlop pro is one of few golfers who has won a tournament on every major continent, the most impressive victories being on the European and PGA Tour respectively.
He peaked in 2010 to his highest position and was ranked at number 1 in the world, taking the crown from the infamous Tiger Woods. He’s never won a major championship but is considered as one of the best golfers who hasn’t. Westwood will look to settle this score at this year’s Open Championship in St. Andrews.
