Golfing organisations who may be planning free coaching sessions this summer have the opportunity to promote their programmes through a major BBC sports campaign, “Get Your Kit On.” The Golf Foundation’s Starter Centre network will form part of a major database whereby callers can be directed to their local Golf Foundation starter centre for a free taster session.

The main aim of the campaign is to encourage more people to “have a go” and adopt a more healthy lifestyle. It will include features in children’s, light entertainment and news programmes, as well as a specially commissioned programme on the history of The Open Championship,

All those who call a special telephone hotline will be sent a magazine that will provide advice on how to get started. Within the magazine there will be a list of the free coaching sessions. The BBC will also be establishing a “Get Your Kit On” web site which will include sections on further education and career opportunities.

To be included organisations must arrange four free one-hour sessions during the period May to September. To obtain a registration pack contact Bindi Vibert at the BBC (Tel: 020 8752 4137) or use the internet links shown on this page.
