Eléa Golf Club, Sir Nick Faldo’s highly acclaimed ‘Mediterranean Masterpiece’ in Cyprus, has announced an events partnership with Austrian Airlines that will see the popular European carrier sponsoring two forthcoming competitions at the Paphos development.

One of the highlights of the calendar is the Austrian Airlines Eléa Masters, 17-18 November, an open-to-all Strokeplay championship that includes 18-hole competitions for men (17th) and ladies (18th), followed by a prize-giving ceremony on each day, fine food and entertainment, for a €45 entry fee.

Austrian Airlines will also be supporting Eléa Golf Club’s Autumn Meeting, one of Cyprus’ premier golf events, that allows an existing club member to invite a guest to enjoy two-days’ complimentary golf at Eléa Estate followed by a gala dinner, presented by Executive Chef, John Kouphou, and hosted in the clubhouse.

Richard Browning, General Manager of Eléa Estate, said: “We are building a strong and well-supported series of competitions at the golf club and with the assistance and backing from significant partners like Austrian Airlines, we can increase the awareness of golf on the island and continue to attract international competitors and guests.”

Since opening in October 2010, the Sir Nick Faldo designed golf course has received rave reviews, including a ‘Top 10 new international golf courses of 2010’ ranking from American title, Golf Magazine, and being recognised as ‘one of the World’s most exciting new courses’ by UK title, Golf World. It was also crowned the ‘No.1 Golf Course in Cyprus’ by trusted ratings website, top100golfcourses.co.uk

Patrick Borg Hedley, Austrian Airlines Country Manager, Cyprus added: “Eléa Estate has a growing reputation, both in Cyprus and in the countries in which we operate, as a great place to visit and play golf. We are pleased to offer our support to these annual events in the golf club’s calendar and look forward to playing our part in their ongoing success.”
