Aquatrols supports environmental projects in Europe

8.10am 29th August 2007 - Sponsorship & Events

Aquatrols has become the third Technical Supporter of Golf Environment Europe and sponsor of GEE’s Environmental Innovation and Technology Network. In so doing, Aquatrols sets out its commitment to support environmental education and information exchange within and beyond European golf.

The company’s support of the Innovation and Technology Network will initially facilitate the production of a new Environmental Resource Centre for European golf. Through the ERC, Aquatrols will help collate and disseminate practical information which assists practitioners in achieving greater water use efficiency and conservation in their turf management activities.

According to Demie Moore, a director and corporate relations manager for Aquatrols, “We are very pleased to join the small group of early leaders making this commitment to GEE and the Environmental Innovation and Technology Network. At the core of Aquatrols purpose is more efficient use of resources – especially water. That has implications for all stakeholders in golf as well as the image of golf as a whole. Contributing information and technology developments that are useful to the people and industries we work with is also fundamental to Aquatrols‘ vision. And since Aquatrols has a significant customer base in European golf, involvement with this initiative is a great fit.”

“Aquatrols is an organization that can play an important part in improving the environmental performance of golf.” said Jonathan Smith of Golf Environment Europe. “By supporting the development of the Environmental Resource Centre, they are making a firm commitment to help golf better understand environmental issues and the practical measures that can be taken to improve environmental practices within golf facilities. Water in particular is a priority topic for golf facilities in Europe, and we need to identify as many ways as possible that water consumption can be reduced whilst still achieving the required playing quality.”

Tom Malehorn, Aquatrols‘ international accounts manager, adds, “I am pleased that we are making this commitment to GEE and can help increase awareness of water conserving practices that do not compromise turf grass quality or playing conditions. Stewardship of the environment is so important and Aquatrols is eager to help people in that area through more effective water management.”

Jonathan Smith continues, “The sponsorship support from Aquatrols and our other Technical Supporters is directly responsible for our ongoing work to bring technical environmental information to practitioners across Europe. We are looking forward to the launch of the resource centre towards the end of 2007.”

The Innovation and Technology Network, which this sponsorship supports, was formed by Golf Environment Europe in partnership with the Sports Turf Research Institute, the Scandinavian Turfgrass Foundation, Cranfield Centre for Water Science and the University of Pisa in Italy. It cooperates with other researchers and educators in Europe and North Carolina State University. The Network serves to help coordinate and disseminate technical environmental information within the European golf sector.

The Environmental Resource Centre for European Golf is a depository for a wide range of technical information across all key environmental topics relating to golf. Key sections focus on the golf course, the clubhouse, the maintenance facility and golf development.

Aquatrols, based in Paulsboro, NJ, has been engaged for more than 50 years in the discovery, development and commercialization of products and technologies for more efficient use of water and other resources for the worldwide turf and crop production industries. The performance of all Aquatrols products is backed by worldwide research and supported by a team of experts in the field and at their headquarters.
