The drinks were on Paul Creamer after the Foxhills Director of Golf aced the third hole at Woodcote Park during the Titleist & FootJoy PGA Professional Championship qualifier on Tuesday, May 24.
And the good news for Creamer was that his perfectly flighted 7-iron on the 155 yard long par three hole didn’t dent his pocket as he was covered by Golfplan Insurance.
Creamer left £250 behind the bar safe in the knowledge that the bill for the 71 strong field will be covered by Golfplan Insurance who a PGA Partner.
The Foxhills pro has had seven aces in his career and revealed it was an expensive bar bill from his last one in the Surrey PGA Championship at Sutton Green seven years ago that prompted him to take out insurance with Golfplan.
“I remember at Sutton Green thinking ‘oh dear, that’s going to be expensive! It’s why I decided to take out insurance with Golfplan and it’s nice to know if you do have a hole in one, you are not going to suffer.”
While delighted his drinks’ bill was covered, Creamer admitted he didn’t actually see his shot go in the hole.
“I didn’t actually see it go in, I was up at the green looking for it and one of my playing partners said ‘it’s in the hole’ which was a nice surprise to be two under after three,” he added.
Woodcote Park was hosting the second of two south regional qualifiers for the Titleist & FootJoy event with the leading 17 finishers going through to compete in the £78,000 championship final at The Oxfordshire in July.
Creamer also paid tribute to sponsors Titleist & FootJoy.
“Titleist & FootJoy do a fantastic job in making it feel like a mini-tour event, it was just a shame I didn’t qualify,” added Creamer who ended eight over for his round.
