Golf courses using GolfNow‘s booking-engine technology now have additional opportunities to capture incremental sales before golfers arrive at their course.

Golf balls and the use of rental clubs now can be purchased during GolfNow’s tee-time checkout process online. This new feature not only provides golfers with the simplicity of adding the items they need, but also helps golf courses boost sales. Balls and rental clubs join range balls as pre-purchase options.

According to the National Golf Foundation, golf balls continue to be the primary driver of equipment sales. While year-over-year sales for hardware is relatively flat, ball purchases are up 7 percent. Golfers lose, on average, one to four balls per round, and as many as 100 every year. This new GolfNow feature provides golf courses with an opportunity to simplify the ball-purchasing process when golfers are focused on their upcoming round and amenable to purchases.

The new items are showcased for golf course operators who enable this functionality within their GolfNow booking engine technology. The ability to purchase these items when checking out on the GolfNow app is currently in development.

“Golfer demand for mobile experiences is only increasing over time, so if you’re not taking advantage of a service like this, you could be losing out,” said Todd Triplett, Senior Vice President, GolfNow. “Driving revenue, increasing efficiencies and improving customer service are three great reasons for any operator to find out more.”

“Adding golf ball sales to our course booking engine checkout flow has been a game-changer for us,” said Jeannette Karnes, General Manager at Beckett Ridge Golf Club in West Chester, Ohio. “It’s convenient for our golfers and creates a new revenue stream without any extra lift from our staff. It’s exactly the kind of innovation we need to enhance the player experience and grow our bottom line.”
