WestChiltington_cover-loHLL Humberts Leisure, the property specialists to the golf and golf hotel industries, confirms the sale of West Chiltington Golf Club in West Sussex to WCGC Ltd, following a confidential placing exercise.

West Chiltington Golf Club, which is located close to Pulborough, comprises an 18 hole 5,866 yard (par 70) golf course, a 9 hole par 3 course, golf driving range and practice facilities, together with a well presented clubhouse. The Club has a great heritage – the course was designed by Max Faulkner OBE (1951 Open Champion) and Brian Barnes (6 time Ryder Cup player) – and a bright future under the control of the new owners Martin & Deborah Ormrod (trading as WCGC Ltd).

Ben Allen BSc (Hons) MRICS, head of HLL Humberts Leisure’s golf agency team handled the sale. Ben Allen commented: “The sale of West Chiltington Golf Club is yet more evidence that despite the UK being in the longest economic recession on record, the demand for proprietary golf clubs remains unabated.

“Lifestyle buyers are attracted by property based businesses that offer remarkable value when compared to, say, the residential sector. The sale of West Chiltington Golf Club follows closely on from our sales of The Vale Golf Club, The Chase Golf Club and Horton Park Golf Club in the summer.”

Martin Ormrod said: “We are delighted with our purchase of West Chiltington Golf Club. We have great plans for the future and look forward to improving the facilities and the business over the coming months.

“The staff and members will be an integral part of our future success and we very much hope that our enthusiasm for the Club will be shared by them going forward.”
