HLL Humberts Leisure, acting on behalf of Alan Bloom and Alan Lovett of Ernst & Young, joint administrators of Nitto Albion plc and Nitto (Oxfordshire) Ltd, have today announced the sale of The Oxfordshire Golf Club to Leaderboard Golf.

The Oxfordshire Golf Club, with a Rees Jones designed 18 hole championship course, is one of the most prestigious golf clubs in England and played host to the Benson & Hedges International Open 1996-1999. The property extends to approximately 334 acres (135 hectares) and includes a magnificent, 40,000 sq ft. (3,720 sq. m) clubhouse. It is located some 46 miles from central London, off junction 7 of the M40 near Thame.

Offers in excess of £6 million were invited for the property.

Leaderboard Golf, owned by Paul and Jennifer Gibbons, has a portfolio of prestigious golf courses including Chart Hills Golf Club, Kent (designed by Nick Faldo), Dale Hill Golf Resort, Sussex (with Ian Woosnam designed championship course) and Sandford Springs Golf Club, Hampshire.

Ben Allen, head of HLL Humberts Leisure’s golf and hotels team, handled the marketing of The Oxfordshire Golf Club. “As anticipated,” he said, “the opportunity to acquire The Oxfordshire Golf Club created unparalleled market interest, especially from international purchasers, corporate operators and trophy buyers. I am confident that the Club will flourish once again now that it is part of Leaderboard Golf.”

“I am very pleased that the uncertainty of the last few months has been resolved,” said Peter Cooper of Ernst & Young’s Hospitality and Leisure team, “enabling the members and the staff to look forward to a bright future at The Oxfordshire.”
