The future of Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club, along with its 60 jobs, has been secured, with its sale to local family-owned company.
Managing director Chris McIntosh and sister Claire White, who run Tewkesbury Park Limited, now plan to revitalise the property and provide long-term investment. They said there were plans for an extensive refurbishment of all areas of the hotel and leisure club.
The four-star venue has panoramic views of Tewkesbury Abbey and the Cotswold and Malvern Hills. The par 73 18-hole golf course was designed by the renowned golfer and former president of the English Golf Union, Frank Pennick, and is complemented by a six-hole academy course, driving range, putting green and pro shop.
Chris McIntosh said: “We are delighted to have been able to acquire Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club and to have the opportunity to revive this important local institution.
“We are investing for the long term and, with the support of Focus Hotels Management, our aim is to re-establish the hotel as one that does justice to its location which has magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.”
The family declined to say how much they had paid Washington Hotels for the site but said they intended to spend a ‘significant amount’ on improvements.
