12.05am 12th July 2007 - Property

Horton cum Studley Golf Ltd has instructed HLL Humberts Leisure, the property specialists to the golf and golf hotel industries, to market Studley Wood Golf Club, Oxfordshire. Offers in excess of £1.25 million are invited for the leasehold property, which is being offered to the market for the first time since opening in 1996.

Studley Wood Golf Club, which is located close to Oxford (population 149,800), comprises a magnificent 18 hole 6,709 yard (par 73) Simon Gidman designed championship parkland golf course, a golf driving range and golf practice facilities, together with a well appointed, two storey 829 sq m (8,925 sq ft) pavilion style clubhouse.

Studley Wood Golf Club has a genuine reputation as a high quality golf club that is reflected in the Club’s successful trading record, strong membership base and established society / function trade. In a review of the course Fore Magazine commented “Studley Wood has a wannabe European Tour venue feel. It is one of those rare places where everyone says hello and seems to be having a jolly nice time. It puts you in a good frame of mind to play golf.”

The sale is being handled by Ben Allen BSc (Hons) MRICS head of HLL’s golf agency team. Ben Allen said, “Studley Wood Golf Club is a fine golf business that will be of interest to lifestyle purchasers and existing golf operators. The Club offers the full scope of facilities for the novice to the experienced golfer, which, combined with a welcoming atmosphere, make this an excellent venue for golf. We anticipate strong interest in the opportunity and hope to conclude the sale in a short timescale.”
