Strathmore Golf Centre, an award-winning parkland golf club in the historic Scottish county of Perthshire, has been brought to the market for offers over £1.4 million.
Strathmore Golf Centre, in the heart of the picturesque Strathmore Valley, extends over 150 acres, and features a high quality 18-hole course, a 9-hole par 3 course, a clubhouse with bar and restaurant, plus practice facilities including a driving range.
The current owners have decided to retire and have put the golf course up for sale with global commercial property specialist Colliers, which is marketing the freehold property and business as a going concern complete with goodwill and trade contents.
Senior surveyor Robert Smithson said: “This is a rare opportunity to buy an established, award-winning golf course which is a successful business in its own right with strong membership and impressive visiting player income, and which also offers potential for further development.
“The business has been progressively improved and developed by the current management during their ownership, and the property is now ready to be taken to the next level by owners who wish to realise its considerable inherent commercial potential.”
He added that potential opportunities included development of holiday accommodation, subject to planning permission.
“Although now lapsed, outline planning permission was granted in 2008 for the construction of new leisure facilities which included a hotel, gym, new clubhouse, and chalet/lodge accommodation together with a new manager’s house,” he said.
The Strathmore Golf Centre, which was voted Scotland’s Best Golf Experience in the 2016 and 2017 Scottish Golf Tourism Awards (under £50 Category), features the 18-hole, par 72 Rannaleroch Course, which was designed by John Salveson, and was opened in 1996 by Scottish professional golfer Kathryn Marshall-Imrie. In addition, there is a 9-hole, par 27 course, The Leitfie Links, and practice areas with a large putting green and practice bunker, plus a 10-bay covered, floodlit practice range.
Smithson added: “The Strathmore Golf Centre benefits from uninterrupted views over the Vale of Strathmore and is in a beautiful rural trading location, close to the popular town of Alyth, and only five miles east of Blairgowrie. It is also around 45 minutes equidistant from the renowned courses at Carnoustie, Gleneagles and St Andrews.”
