Stapleford Park closes and goes into liquidation

10.24am 21st October 2024 - Property

Grade I listed country house hotel Stapleford Park closed last week after owners DreamR Group called in the liquidators.

The venue closed on October 16 with the owners of the four-star hotel and country retreat near Melton Mowbray citing ‘adverse trading conditions’ for the immediate closure of the venue.

Specialist insolvency practitioners Leonard Curtis have been instructed to assist with placing the company into creditors’ voluntary liquidation.

An email from the venue sent to members last week said: “It is with great regret that we must inform you that, Stapleford Park Hotel will be ceasing to trade as of 16 October 2024, and your club membership terminated with immediate effect.

“Unfortunately, as a result of adverse trading conditions and the financial position of the operating company, Stapleford Park Limited, the hotel cannot continue to operate, and management have little option but to cease to trade the hotel with immediate effect, including club membership.”

Stapleford Park was bought by Dreamr Hotels two years ago. Earlier this year, Dreamr signed a deal with Bristol-based hotel management company M&T Hotel Management, which specialises in hotel management and advisory services.

The luxury country house hotel and sporting estate, which is set in 500 acres of Capability Brown-designed park, woodland and gardens, boasts 48 guest bedrooms, two self-contained cottages, a restaurant and a luxury spa facility.

Stapleford Park’s 6,944-yard, par-73 golf course, which was designed by Donald Steel and first opened in 2000, was closed in 2020.

Stapleford Park, which was converted from a family home into a hotel in 1988, was once owned by Peter de Savary, but has changed hands multiple times in the last 20 years
