HLL Humberts Leisure has been appointed by Chesterfield Borough Council to offer Tapton Park Golf Course to let on a 25 year FRI lease. Annual rental offers are invited for the property, with initial expressions of interest required by 19th October 2007.
Tapton Park Golf Course is a renowned municipal golf course that was founded in 1934. The property comprises an 18 hole 6,104 yard (par 72) parkland golf course; 9 hole 2,613 yard (par 34) course; 9 hole par 3 course; practice ground (with potential for a floodlit golf riving range); large clubhouse; lodge and greenkeepers’ compound, located on the outskirts of Chesterfield (population 99,000). The business is operated as a pay and play facility and offers great potential for commercialisation.
The Chesterfield Borough Council is seeking an experienced operator for Tapton Park Golf Course to implement the Council’s objectives for the property. The objectives include: ensuring that the facility remains a pay and play golf course open to all members of the public; achieving the refurbishment of the clubhouse and practice facilities; encouraging participation in and development of golf; and securing a sustainable annual rent for the Council.

Proposals for Tapton Park Golf Course will be judged on a number of criteria including the operator’s covenant strength, their experience in the golf sector, the proposed annual rent and the projected capital investment in the facility.”
