Chris Manson, former commercial manager of football giants Chelsea, has teamed up with furniture manufacturer Richard Godson to take over Wildwood Country Club in Surrey in a £2 million deal after owners Humax decided the course no longer fitted in with their long-term strategy. Humax will now put all their resources into Lamerwood Country Club in Hertfordshire.

The golf course at Wildwood has a length of 6,655 yards and was designed by Hawtree, leading British golf course architects. It opened for play in 1993 and has developed an excellent reputation.

The sale price was not disclosed but offers in the region of £2.25 million had been invited. Strutt & Parker incorporating William Hillary Leisure & Hotels acted on behalf of Humax UK Ltd.
