Long Sutton Golf Club, Somerset, sold

8.20am 3rd September 2007 - Property

HLL Humberts Leisure, the property specialists to the golf and golf hotel sector, reports the sale of Long Sutton Golf Club, Somerset. Substantial offers were invited for the freehold property, which has been sold by Long Sutton Golf & Leisure Ltd to GCH Golf Ltd.

Long Sutton Golf Club, located close to the A303 at Langport, comprises an 18 hole 6,352 yard (par 71) golf course, a 12 bay golf driving range and practice areas, together with a well appointed clubhouse offering extensive conference and function facilities. The Club has a successful trading record and benefits from planning consent for the development of a 38 bedroom lodge, which together with other extant consents, will facilitate the further expansion of the business.

The sale was handled by Ben Allen from HLL Humberts Leisure’s Winchester office who said, “Long Sutton Golf Club was established in 1990 and is a fine golf facility that has a diverse range of income streams, which was the main attraction for the purchaser.

“Demand for realistically priced golf businesses is strong, as evidenced by the high level of interest that we have also received in Studley Wood Golf Club in Oxfordshire where offers in excess of £1.25 million are invited for the leasehold property. We hope to report further transactions shortly.”
