Blair Nimmo of KPMG LLP was appointed Provisional Liquidator of Inchmarlo Golf Centre Limited on 21 February 2013, at the request of the company’s directors.
The company, based in Banchory, Aberdeenshire operates an 18 hole and 9 hole golf course, as well as a driving range. The company also operates and manages a complex of 42 Villas on behalf of various villa owners.
Inchmarlo Golf Centre Limited was incorporated on 16 April 1993 and was acquired by its present owner (Frank Burnett Limited) in 2008.
The company has experienced trading difficulties for some time and has been supported by its main shareholder, which has injected significant funds into the business since the acquisition in 2008. No further investment is available and the directors had no alternative other than to request the appointment of a Provisional Liquidator.
The Provisional Liquidator is not able to continue to operate the golf course operation which has now been closed. The company’s interest in the golf courses and golf facilities (which are leased) are being offered for sale.
The villa rental operation will continue for a short period while a buyer is sought although no new bookings are being made at this time.
Regrettably, 25 of the company’s total workforce of 30 have been made redundant with immediate effect. The five remaining staff will assist in office administration and the operation of the rental business.
Blair Nimmo, Provisional Liquidator and Head of restructuring in Scotland, said: “The golf courses have been local fixtures for the last 20 years and we will take all steps possible to find a new owner.
“It is with regret that we have had to make a number of redundancies on appointment but unfortunately there was no other option.”
