Humberts Leisure, the specialist firm of chartered surveyors and leisure business consultants, is pleased to report the acquisition of two golf courses on behalf of clients.

The Ridge Golf Club, near Maidstone, Kent has been acquired by Humberts Leisure from American Golf, on behalf of Paul and James Tory. The Torys are Kent-based golf operators with three existing golf clubs, Etchinghill Golf Club, Folkestone; Boughton Golf Club, Faversham; and Austin Lodge Golf Club, Eynsford. The acquisition of The Ridge Golf Club, which comprises 18 holes of golf, a practice range and substantial clubhouse, is an excellent addition to their portfolio linking their operations in East and West Kent.

Blacknest Golf & Country Club, Farnham, Surrey has been acquired on behalf of Huntswood Sport & Leisure. Blacknest comprises an 18 hole golf course, 6 hole academy course, floodlit golf range and substantial clubhouse including a leisure suite. The Club forms a valuable addition to Huntswood Sport & Leisure’s growing portfolio of courses, which includes Fingle Glen Golf & Country Club, Exeter and Huntswood Golf Club, Burnham.

Ben Allen BSc (Hons) MRICS, head of Humberts Leisure’s golf agency team, acted on behalf of both purchasers. “Regional golf operators are an increasingly important sector of the golf market,” he said. “Paul and James Tory and Huntswood Golf & Leisure are prime examples of this type of purchaser. Humberts Leisure has contacts with a wide range of similar purchasers who have active requirements for golf businesses throughout the UK. We would be pleased to speak to any proprietor who is considering a sale of their business to establish whether we can match a purchaser to their Club.”
