Freehold proprietary golf club in thriving motorway corridor

Leisure property specialist Humberts Leisure incorporating Fleury Manico has been instructed to market Chesterton Golf Club near Bicester, Oxfordshire. Offers in excess of £1.25 million are invited for the freehold property.

Chesterton Golf Club is a well located 18 hole proprietary golf club with a substantial clubhouse situated in the M40 corridor, well placed to serve the local population centres of Oxford and Bicester.

The course was established over 113 acres (46 hectares) of former parkland in 1974. It is laid out in two loops of 9 holes and measures 6,229 yards (par 71) from the back tees. The clubhouse, which opened in 1994, is 11,810 sq. ft (1,097 sq.m.) and offers spacious accommodation for golfers and non-golfers alike.

The business has been under the control of the current owners since 1983. There is now great potential for expansion of the facilities including the possibility, under existing planning consent, to extend the clubhouse to provide 51 letting bedrooms and leisure club facilities.

“Humbert Leisure has enjoyed considerable success in the golf market over the last twelve months,” said Ben Allen, who is handling the sale from Humbert Leisure’s new Winchester office. “During this time we have sold or let eight golf businesses. I envisage that this success will continue with Chesterton Golf Club which is a sound business with great inherent potential.”
