The owners of the Forest Hill Golf and Conference Centre in Leicestershire have unveiled plans to build a 152-bedroom hotel and leisure complex.
Sparsis Leisure Ltd, which bought the club in 2018, is looking to convert an area of land currently occupied by a redundant nine-hole golf course to accommodate the new facilities.
It says it wants to provide additional leisure facilities and hotel accommodation for guests during competitions, conferences, weddings and other events at the club, as well as for people visiting the area.
The plans have been submitted to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council planners.
In an outline of the plans, the club said: “The public want and need more leisure, more outside activities, better functioning buildings, structured engagement, and supported programmes with a much greater emphasis on general wellness. There is a need to change the traditional golf club to one of golf and wellness, all within the site boundaries.
The team aims to bring to the market a cluster of new purpose-designed buildings and facilities which will enhance the existing golf course, training facilities and clubhouse, whilst adding a new accommodation building – all within in a fully sustainable setting.
This enhanced facility will appeal to golfers and non-golfers alike.”
Forest Hill, which is located eight miles north east of Leicester, boasts an 18-hole, par-73 championship course, a 19-day driving range, including Toptracer technology, and the largest on-course golf retail outlet in Leicestershire.
