Glendale Golf has been awarded a 25-year lease to operate the Tilgate Forest Golf Centre in Sussex. This follows Glendale’s successful acquisition of the 10-year management contract for Edwalton Municipal Golf Courses in Nottingham. The company is actively seeking new investment opportunities.

Glendale, the green services specialist, has strengthened its portfolio after being awarded a 25-year lease to operate Tilgate Forest Golf Centre near Crawley in Sussex. The new lease for the ‘pay and play‘ facility follows Glendale’s successful acquisition of the 10-year management contract for Edwalton Municipal Golf Courses in Nottingham.
Tilgate is destined to become Glendale’s flagship course with a half-a-million pound investment to establish the company as a widely recognised provider of facilities synonymous with quality and excellence.
Neil Simpson, managing director of Glendale Golf, said, “Our aim is to establish Glendale Golf as a recognised name, offering golfing facilities which are normally associated with proprietary and member golf clubs.
“Tilgate Forest will set the standard for the future development of golf courses operated by Glendale – it’s a very exciting time for us!”
Tilgate Forest will continue to be a ‘pay and play‘ golf club providing excellent facilities that cater for the whole family with special focus on traditional non-golfers.
The investment will focus on the clubhouse and shop as well as specialist golf machinery, landscaping and forestry, bunkers and ponds, the driving range and children’s putting green.
Glendale was awarded the lease contract from Crawley Borough Council after being selected from a shortlist of four applicants. The course was designed by Neil Coles and Brian Huggett and was first opened for play in 1982. Its challenging 6,359-yard tree-lined course has a high turnover of green fee visitors and a popular nine-hole, par three course.
Neil Simpson continued, “We are looking forward to working in partnership with the local community to deliver significant improvements to the golf centre.
“By redeveloping the clubhouse and course facilities we aim to meet the needs of modern day golfers. We‘re also seeking to develop the competition structure, junior training and lady membership programmes.”
Following Glendale’s successful acquisition of the Tilgate Forest lease, the company is actively seeking new investment opportunities. Glendale Golf was launched in 2002 and provides a complete management and maintenance service to municipal and proprietary owned golf courses, providing investment, innovation, specialist skills and resources to maximise revenue. It also manages catering and retail facilities and seeks fresh strategies to attract new players and members.
